Mr. Daisey and the Apple Factory | This American Life

I recently got a media streamer, and I must say there are times when technology gets me excited, thrilled to see or simply hear what is out there beyond the boundaries of my home! No antennas and hardly any cables! Ever since installing this little machine, connecting it to my stereo and  T.V., invisible wireless signals talking to my modem, and there you go, a whole world at your doorstep.

Do you ever wonder where something comes from? The keyboard I’m now typing on, was assembled by someone, to a certain extent this device was hand-made, or assembled, have you ever wondered whose hands gave life to the machine that helps to distract or enrich your life?

Tonight I just listed to a podcast from This American Life,  454: MR. DAISEY AND THE APPLE FACTORY 1.6.12

If you have any interest of where things come from and made, this podcast will help to shed just a bit more light.

Confessions

Today, like many other days, I woke up with a sense of anxiety, lately I find myself wanting to leave the house and just take photographs.  Photographs of anything and of anyone, and the theme, about simply taking part in the photographic process and experiencing that adrenalin rush I get when I compose for my image and hopefully involve my subject in a similar way.

The truth is, I haven’t been taking pictures for a while, I look at my cameras, pick them up, dust them, and put them back down. I promise myself the moment I finish what needs to be done, my preparation for the week, that I will set out and do just that, and simply take pictures.

February is on its way out, maybe March will be my month.

Martin Parr | Documentary Photography His Way

If there is one man who could tell a good story in a unique and at times controversial way through the means of photography, then Martin Parr is one of the few who are at the top of my list.

Martin Parr

I love how he takes a no-nonsense approach to his photography, which I believe it is not intentional on his part, but it’s simply his way, his style. Often he uses a flash off camera without filters or light modifiers as to make the light more gentle, instead its direct and hard like the pavement, perfectly mixing ambient light with flash. He’s a street photographer photographing a world in his own unique way, the way he perceives it. Parr I like your style!

Here is Martin Parr’s take on it, offering some great advice, something to consider especially  seeing that Christmas is just around the corner.

Great Advertising | Samsung or Iphone | To be or not to be?

I don’t usually endorse products let alone blog about them, but this add via Youtube caught my attention.  I don’t care what side of the fence you’re on, whether you’re pro Mac or not, it’s not important, I feel the people who developed this add have a great sense of humor and know how to use it, this to me is intelligent marketing!
